Soul Commune

Serving Soul!

It's always cool to know how you found what you found and why you found it?

I heard about Soul Commune from a few people, but after seeing a badge on one of Nikki Andre's other webpages I decided to give it a visit, especially since I'm wanting to meet, greet, network and do business with new and exciting people. How did you find Soul Commune?

My cousin The Muse hipped me to it. I love it! Though I'm not in the music Industry like many users of Soul Commune, it's still a great place to meet via "cyberspace" interesting, like-minded people.

Thank you for the response.

I was chatting with Drake Phifer one day and he told me to head over to this spot. When I saw it, my eyes lit up like I'd stumbled into a sweet factory. I haven't looked back since and have sent out at least a couple of thousand invites. I think it's a dynamic spot for artists, musicians, music lovers and business savvy individuals to come together. I also see that alot of other sites are popping up on the ning network. I don't quite understand the need for further division -- you've got so much 'here' to capitalize and build on, so to me -- there's no necessity for 'knock offs'

Thank you for the response Detrel.

As a persons brand begins to build and they have a following they may want to take full advantage of the marketing and money making opportunities that come with hosting your own site on the Ning Network. Additionally, people may want to run their site a bit different than the next and will find it easier to start their own than to force their way of doing business on others.

While this is a good site for the Soul Community people don't seem to be that engaged in topics of the music business on the forums as they are on other Ning Sites I'm actively involved in.

In any event thank you for responding to this forum. Incidentally, are you involved in the music industry or just love soul music and the movement around it?

Quite contrary, in my view Jawar. I think that people on this site are very much engaged in the business of music. While I don't think that you'll see everyone peddling books and such, there is a tremendous amount of industry exchange going on. If I think if you observe and really start to develop relationships with people that find that to be the case as well.

Peddling has such a negative tone Drake.

Any business engaged in sustaining and growing must be actively involved in brand building, marketing and promoting. As you read through my forums and comments you'll see me actively engaged in conversation. Per my experience on other Ning sites people respond much sooner and on a more frequent basis than they do on Soul Commune.

Additionally, I don't think you and I have correspondent before, forgive me if we have. Good to meet you. However, you have not posted to the original forum topic which was How Did You find Soul Commune. This topic was started so that I may engage others on Soul Commune.

Perhaps you would share with us what valued product or service related to the music business you market and promote and how you came to find Soul Commune?

SPECIAL NOTE: Music Industry Connection is the Book Series. By visiting the site you'll find how the books have helped and continue to help others actively involved in the music business.

lol..Sorry, jawar!! you are right. I don't mean it like that :-) My apologies. First let me say that I love what it is that you are doing. Second, I was turned onto SC by my friend Donald Hardway. It's good to meet you, too, man. Ket's build!

Hey Jawar -- I apologize because I didn't intend for my response to develop into a flow about the pros and cons of building Ning spots. I just spouted what was in my head at that moment and let it flow. What I meant by what I said was that I'm bombarded with invitations to join other networks that, for the most part are related to music. I think those of us in the indie market have made such an effort as of late to unify on some level -- and then to divert folks from a spot like this is devisive, to me.

Another thing I wanted to add -- you asked Drake what he contributes to the music business and he failed to adequately answer that question! (whatup, Drake?!) Now, I could give you a glimpse into the power behind that brother -- but I think it only right that he do that himself!! :)

Again, sorry to digress -- love the question that you initially posed and really enjoying checking out the responses.

That's what's up Trel. I appreciate your response. It seems that all has been cleared up with Drake and I.

It took a second, but now we're getting cooking. This is the most active forum I've participated in on SC thus far. Please keep the communication coming. :-)

Great!

Peace
Diamond, you may want to look closer into my activity on this and other Ning Sites, perhaps after closer research you'll find that others have received my activity with a warm welcome as I have added value to their business and craft as emerging and aspiring recording artist, musicians, music producers/composers, djs, music business executives and so forth. Furthermore, because of my activity on a number of Ning sites more business is getting discussed, which inevitably will help the emerging music community.

It has been said that fish is good for memory, perhaps you may have some. In terms of a discussion on coopr8 there was/is one young lady who brought issue with me and she has been the only person thus far on that site. Futhermore, her argument was weak at best. She came to me, not me to her, just as you are. Additionally, you came on this forum entitled How did you find Soul Commune? If you are believing my selling technique to be glossy and hard core prior to this forum it would seem that the simple solution would have been simply not to respond to the forum in the second place.

It would appear on the surface that I am not into underground music like you are and like so many others. However, the lower sciences teaches us that we may arrive at a number of 1 in a number of ways. For instance (1+0=1, 2-1=1, 3-2=1, 1x1=1, etc.). The point here it to demonstrate that while on the surface we may not be into underground music the same way we may both have similar intentions on helping others achieve their goals and realize their potential. This of course is assuming that I am into underground music like you are.

The other side of the coin is you have some nerve and audacity to state "You should understand if your into underground music like I am & like so many others are, you just don't fit." What gives you the authority to think I should understand anything and that you hold the key to my approach to music in whole and underground/independent music in part and that I just don't fit.

In the future would be more tasteful, civil and business savvy to send a private message before attempting to put someone on blast in/on a public forum.

When you visit Music Industry Connection, myspace.com/jawarspeaks, myspace.com/gojawar and various Ning Music Sites you'll read the number of people who have benefited from the information they have been provided from my online and offline activity.

Until you share actual facts and not mere assumptions, accusations and opinions you could never be to harsh. :-)

Thank you for the constructive criticism. Perhaps we may both walk away better business people with more wisdom, overstanding and information than before this discussion started.
