World Wide Waddie had the opportunity to chat things up with soul singer ChinahBlac fresh from her performance at the S.O.B. lounge in New York City. Her interview got to be so good that we had to cut it into two parts.

In part one of this interview, ChinahBlac talks about the success of her breakaway underground hit single "Get Away" as well as her new album "Introducing Eugenia Shata." She also shares her experience working with R&B greats Erykah Badu, Raheem DeVaughn and Jill Scott. Did you know that she also toured with the Dave Matthews Band?

She also introduces her life mate, Newark emcee Kareem, who she is currently collaborating on some new music. If you had the chance to witness their chemistry during the interview like I did, you can safely predict that great music will be the outcome of their union.

Being such a musically diverse artist, "Introducing Eugenia Shata" is a bluesy soul classic. Check it out on iTunes.

On January 28th the members of the Soul Revolution and Global Soul family will gather together to do all three at the mecca of Global Soul, Libation.

Special guest DJ Sabine, Queen of Brooklyn Mecca will share the decks with Ian Friday to bring healing to the hearts and souls of NYC. Music and dance are two of the best mediums to promote togetherness and therapy. In the wake of the tragedy in Haiti, the Libation family will open its doors to the organization Urban Sanctuary to help raise money and supplies for the earthquake relief.

DJ Sabine has built a reputation for her fiery, spiritual sets. As the resident DJ and co-creator of Libation, producer Ian Friday delivers musical sets that send the faithful home on a natural high. Together these two patrons of Global Soul knock the socks off of WMC with their collaborative parties. On the 28th, they plan to bring some sunshine to the moonlit skies of Manhattan – rocking the Sullivan Room until the sun comes up.

On hand will be resident visual artist Concep and hosts Afro Mosaic Soul helping to raise the good vibe and energy to epic proportions. This incredible night will also serve as the birthday celebration for one of the founding members of Afro Mosaic Soul, Ebony Kuyateh.

The Dream Begins At LIBATION

A new year…a new decade…a new opportunity to continue the legacy of House music.
In 2009, greater awareness was brought to the Global Soul movement, Manchildblack and Ian Friday created a vehicle to gain further traction with the Soul Revolution. Libation’s stage hosted artists like Kindred the Family Soul, Nathan Adams, Ovasoul7 and more. Ian Friday shared the decks with Osunlade, Boddhi Satva, Ron Trent and Rich Medina, just to name a few. Libation was named Top Party for 2009 by F.A.M.E NYC. Even stars of screen and stage have passed through to experience the Mecca of Global Soul.

The Soul Revolution plans to enter 2010 with records and mics blazing! In January, the Libation family continues to come on strong, with Ian Friday all night long on the 14th. Friday morning has never looked brighter after a night of Friday, Ian Friday that is. Prepare for a set that will leave the dance floor charred. Libation is serving pure fire for its pre-MLK Day Celebration. The House inferno continues on the 28th as Ian Friday is joined by DJ Sabine, Queen of Brooklyn Mecca. DJ Sabine has built a solid reputation for delivering soulful sets; she rocked in the New Year at Intimate Sessions. Side by side these two powerhouses will deliver enough heat to melt Antarctica.

Resident visual artist Concep and hosts Afro Mosaic Soul will be in the house to stoke the flames as Libation continues to set the temperature for the House community of New York City.

Tis the season for joy, good tidings and revolution – Soul Revolution that is.

Are you ready for a revolution? Do you want to know what the Soul Revolution is? Well, here is your personal invitation to view the Soul Revolution in full swing as we celebrate the birthday of the lyrical minister Manchildblack on Thursday, December 10th.

That’s right; Libation is receiving a soul makeover, but never fear, everything that has made Libation the hottest underground party in NYC is still in effect. The minister of sound, Ian Friday, and the lyrical minister are just taking the party to the next level.

Concep, resident visual artist, MTV’s Art Battles winner and new millennium modernist, will make blank canvases breathe with life as he creates future masterpieces on the spot. Hosts Afro Mosaic Soul will dazzle the crowd with choreography, floor work and acrobatics that rival the Cirque du Soleil as the minister of sound will guide his disciples through a euphonious caravan that is sure to deliver pure exaltation.

Joining in on the night’s soulful sojourn is special guest DJ Karizma. This Baltimorean prodigy began his DJ career at 13. After teaming up with DJ Spen, Karizma went on to create remixes for Kenny Bobien, SuSu Bobien, Jocelyn Brown, Lenny Kravitz and Mary J. Blige just to name a few. It was during this time that Karizma created the "deepah dubs" and "deepah ones" moniker for his sound. On his own, formed Kohesive Productions and has brought his sound to Japan, United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and many other countries. Many of his productions have been championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, Simon Dunmore, DJ Spinna, Marques Wyatt, Tony Humphries and many other house DJs and producers. After setting 2007 alight with his award winning solo album A Mind of Its Own, Karizma has returned with the highly anticipated sequel: A Mind of Its Own-Version 2.0.
